Corrupt banker Leo Dörring has abandoned Irene, his long-time companion, for a younger woman and turned her out onto the street, penniless. Max Kerner, “the Fox“, thinks he can help, but his attempt to divest Dörring of a valuable Michelangelo statuette founders. Thereafter Max and his team slip into a series of multifarious roles, in order to convince the banker that his beloved statuette is nothing but a fake. Believe it he does, and Dörring is suddenly willing to fob it off on the Fox - in the persona of an Indian Maharajah - for a few million. Without knowing, of course, that aforesaid Maharajah will be paying with the banker’s own illicit gains, lifted from his henchman only moments before. And all this during a surprise visit from his mother, with whom Max has been at loggerheads for ages. The fact that she rediscovers her old flame Chief Superintendent Schander, head of the robbery division, who has been after the Fox for years, and brings him back to the house, obviously makes the enterprise easier. Just as much as the hash cookies baked by Max’s son Lucas, which soon become Grandma’s delicious new favourites. Together with Andrea and Schander, she scoffs the lot, blissfully unaware of the consequences. Altogether a fine mess!
