The midwife Andrea Berger is not easily shocked. But then one night during a heavy blizzard, she is called out to assist with a birth, there being no other doctor available.
The expectant mother is the wife of Andrea`s lover. The inconceivable happens, the mothere dies and A ndrea can only save the baby. The mother of the deceased is distraught and reports Andrea to the police. Did Andrea overstep her authority. Thereby saving the baby`s life whilst consenting to the death of the mother – her rival.
