Marie Rensberg, her husband Charles, son Steven who is from an earlier relationship between Marie and a man, and the twins Carlotta and Tanja do live a family life with all its favours: a beautiful home , time for the children s well as a strong and desirable connection between each other.
However this life changes within a second as Charles dies at a carcrash.Unexpectedly Marie receives the news that her husband ran into debts . Besides the life insurance does not pay either as they consider Charle’s dead as a suicide. Overnight Marie and the three children are faced with ruin. The only ones who can help Marie are the parents in law, Marina and Holger Rensberg. However Holger never favoured with Marie. Now he sencts the chance to get rid of Marie forever: He offers her to take care of the twins Carlotta and Tanja, under the condition that she and her “bastard” Steven should vanish forever. Sell the kids? Never.
Now the social decline begins for the family. They have to leave their old house and move to a welfare housing, within a new vicinity with a different school. The surrounding here is a total different one which they are used to.
Three women are living on the same level of the welfare housing. Kind women. Women who often hit the night. One as a noble prostitute, one as a callgirl and one as a stripper. However in daily life they can be useful spirits; so they become good friends. Despite Marie can’t afford to be shocked – though she is serching for a job but sh e does not find a proper thing. She even gets fired which makes the welfare institution alarmed. Furthermore the father in law causes trouble as he threatens her to take away the children. He blames her to not take care about the children; hence she needs money, but how. Luckily her new friend s come up with an idea. The fight about the child custody and the financial difficulties do not give Marie any options. Therefore Marie embarks on a unknown way to rescue her family...till she finds out why her husband had to die and who is behind it.
